Can Cat Litter Harm Your Baby?
There are quite a few different things that your doctor may advise you not to do while you are pregnant, this is to ensure the safety of both you and your unborn child. The major one they will speak to you about, is to keep away from cat litter if you are pregnant.
The reason that your doctor will instruct you to stay away from the cat litter box if you are pregnant is because cat feces can carry a parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, which is an infection that would not be serious for you but which could be potentially life threatening for your developing baby.
So while you a pregnant you are going to require somebody else to clean your cat litter box. Although the odds of catching toxoplasmosis while you are pregnant are low, but of course in this matter it is much better to be safe than sorry, this is the reason why doctors recommend that you do not go near cat litter while is are pregnant.
Some Other Tips
There are a other things that you need to avoid also whilst you are with child, as well as cat litter. As most people already know, smoking is very bad, but never more so than if you are pregnant.
Smoking while pregnant will do very much more harm to your unborn baby than it ever will to you, even if you were a smoker before you got pregnant, you should cut back as much as you can or hopefully quit completely, in order to ensure the best health of your child.
Smoking is a leading health problem, but at least if you do smoke when you are not pregnant you will not have the worry about harming your baby. The more you smoke whilst pregnant, the bigger risk that she has of having a low-birthweight child. This will greatly affect the health of your baby, and especially if they are premature they may not be able to make it through.
Research suggests that any woman who smokes at anytime during the month before pregnancy to the end of the first trimester are more in all probability to have a baby with birth defects.
I hope you will see from this, staying away from cat litter and other things that are going to be maybe life-threatening to your developing baby is really important, and will ensure that they stay in the best possible health.
