The make great companions, are full of energy, and are great for people who are interested in outdoor pets. There are many species of hunting dogs to consider when you want to buy one.

Choosing a good hunting dog requires a fine combination of patience and skills. First of all you have to decide what type of hunting dog you are interested in. Now that you are familiar with all the ideas behind picking a good hunting dog, don’t hesitate to get one for yourself.

These dogs have a keen sense of smell and are great for hunting. They are often used to sniff out drugs.
One type of dog people love are beagles for a lot of reasons. These dogs are very adorable and win everyone over with their big eyes, playfulness, and wagging tails. They are fun and energetic. They love to play and they always want to have fun. Plus, the love sleeping and cuddling their owners. If you plan on owning one of these dogs, you should know some important rules about caring for them. Here are some ways to maximize the fun you have with your pet dog.

Training a beagle isn’t very easy – you will need to have a lot of patience. These dogs can be very bullish when they are being trained. Beagles have short attention spans so training them can be difficult as you always need to keep the focused and attentive. If there are many distractions around while they are being trained, it will be hard to teach them.

Additionally, avoid having variations in your training plan. It will cause them to not know which commands mean what. Your Beagle training lessons should be consistent. Train your beagle when they are young because when they are older, they are more set in their ways and it will be harder to train. Taking your beagle to an obedience school will ensure that they understand all the important commands, are trained well, behave well, and follow the rules you set down.

In case you want to potty train your beagle, learn to reward it with treats instead of punishing it when it does something wrong. Reward your pet dog with food when he goes to the bathroom outside so your dog links the outside with the bathroom. Make sure this is not a frequent habit though. Dogs will begin to associate food with going to the bathroom and then will only go outside if there is food involved. You must not follow this bad habit.

A Beagle doesn’t need a lot of grooming but you should learn to take good care of its ears and feet. You can brush its coat once or twice a week to keep its coat sparkling and in good condition. Give it a bath according to a schedule fixed by you. The toe-nails of your pet should be trimmed by you when required. Make sure to also check and clean your dogs ears often as they have a tendency to attract fleas as well as develop infection.

Remember to take your dog to the vet regularly. Its important to ensure that there is nothing wrong with your dog. Always keep a good vets contact number handy for any medical urgent matter your beagle may need. Feed your pet premium quality dog food. Beagles are always hungry so don’t always give them food. Give your beagle minimal snacks during the day and only feed them a meal twice a day. Thus if you take care of all the above things, you will turn to be your pets best friend and win a lifetime of loyalty from it.

Who doesn’t simply loves a Beagle when they meet one in their daily lives. Of course, Beagles are always very delightful with their lovable eyes and friendly attitude. Nevertheless training them can be a chore. If you want to be successful at training your beagle, you must put in a lot of hard work and be very patient and consistent with your pet. Only then will you train your beagle right.

If you want to train a Beagle in a proper manner then you need to possess this essential trait: you’ll need a lot of persistence for training your Beagle. Avoid giving up when you set to train your Beagle. You need to exude plenty of commitment in training your Beagle.

Beagles are natural hunting dogs and thus gets distracted effortlessly, all set to run from one place to another for no reason at all. If they smell something new or hear something they will go and run off to find out what it is. Focus on converting the limitless energy in your Beagle into a constructive kind instead. Thus, you must take it for extended walks. Also remember to take it for a swim or a hike. If you don’t use up a beagle’s energy, it will run around your house and cause a lot of trouble.

Make sure your beagle gets a lot of exercise because when a Beagle doesn’t usually play enough to make use of its energy, then it becomes restless and makes a mess indoors. When you are outside with your pet, make sure it is always on a lease otherwise it will run away from you in all directions. Be assertive because a Beagle always responds much better to a person who’s in total command of the situation. Don’t wait till your Beagle is too mature to start training it.

The truth is, if you wait to train it after it has matured too much, you will not have a positive outcome on its training. You can start your Beagle’s training from the age of eight weeks. Start with all the basic commands like stand, sit, down, heel. Once it obeys these basic and simple commands, it shows that you are succeeding at your training attempt. You then need to go to the next level of training – continue with the more complex commands that you have planned for your Beagle.

Never try to keep a Beagle alone for long periods of time. This will make them bad tempered and lazy. It’s also not good for their health as they tend to put on unwanted extra weight on their bodies. Since Beagles have an excellent sense of smell, when trained well, it can be used for detection work of various kinds. Thus all your efforts spent on your Beagle will come in handy. If you follow these rules you will be able to train your beagle to obey you and have it always using its energy in a positive way.

Can beagles be difficult? Absolutely. But they’re also incredibly loyal and loving. Couple that affection with a good training regimen, and you have a great dog to enjoy for years to come. Here are 6 ways you can assure your beagle (or any other dog for that matter) becomes the pride of the neighborhood:

1. It’s never too early to start. Begin training your beagle as soon as possible. Starting with something as easy as a feeding schedule will help to get your dog used to a routine. If he or she is used to a routine from an early age, and if you reward his or her good behavior often, the chances are severely reduced that bad habits will develop.

2. Learning simple commands early is good. “Stay,” “sit,” and “come” might seem like simple commands, but the earlier they respond to these, the easier it is to train them later. Remember, a beagle is a pack dog. It wants to be the leader. The sooner you let him know you’re the pack leader, the more readily he will respond to your commands, rather than the other way around.

3. Short and sweet. If you’ve ever owned a beagle, you know how easily they can be thrown off track because of their desire to follow smells. Keep your training sessions short, even 5 to 10 minutes twice a day can be very worthwhile. Make the sessions as entertaining as you can so he’ll want to learn.

4. Don’t abuse your dog. We all get frustrated occasionally. It’s human nature. But to take it out on the dog will only have the reverse effect. Physical punishment can make him more aggressive and cause him to be more fearful of you. It stands to reason that he won’t do what you want him to do if he’s afraid.

5. Positive reinforcement works. Who doesn’t like a treat? A beagle is a hound, and hounds are motivated by food. One word of caution, though. Don’t let the dog see the treat before the command is given. To him, it may be a form of bribery and he’ll only obey if he can see the treat.

6. Use training methods that are appropriate to beagles. Again, a beagle is a scent hound, so anything involving the nose, such as uncovering buried objects, would be very beneficial. Since beagles are bred to hunt, anything involving running and retrieving also would be quite useful.

Beagles are headstrong, no doubt about it. But that doesn’t mean training them has to be impossible. If, at the very minimum, you stick with these 6 guidelines, you’ll have a well-trained dog that will bring you years of lasting enjoyment.
