We all have experienced the dreaded “puppy breath” at some time or another. Well, doggy dental health is important from as early as your puppy to your adult dog. Brushing your dog’s teeth will eliminate that stinky dog breath and make it minty fresh for doggy kisses.

Brushing your dog’s teeth sounds almost ridiculous? Well, it’s not and it is very important to the health of the dog just as it is to us dog owners. We don’t want out dogs to suffer from any major dental issues so brushing weekly can lower the risk of problems.

Visit your local pet store in the dog pet supplies section and purchase the doggie toothbrush or finger toothbrush. Be sure you get the dog toothpaste which is better for them if swallowed. Then get ready for those minty fresh doggie kisses.

As we play with our dogs, we are throwing Frisbee’s, sticks and other objects for our pets to retrieve. These things can easily break your dog’s teeth. Regularly checking your dogs teeth can eliminate problems, and save on large vet bills.

Catching a dog’s teeth problems early can eliminate having to have the tooth pulled. Infection can lead to other medical problems for your dog so make sure that all infections are addressed early. Your dog can’t tell you when he’s sick or injured so be proactive with your pet’s health.

Another cause of bad breath in your dog can be a tooth infection. While you are brushing your dog’s teeth, be sure that you look inside his mouth and check for any broken teeth. Gum swelling can also be a sign of infections so be sure you are thorough when brushing.

There are hundreds of toys on the market today for dogs of all sizes. Be sure that you use an item that is the right size for your four-legged friend when playing with her. Don’t throw anything for her to catch that can hurt her or break a tooth.

Hit the dog pet supplies section of your local pet store to find an age appropriate toy suitable for your dog. Getting your dog a toy that is not recommended for them can cause broken teeth, leading to bad breath so make sure their chew toys are what the vet has recommended. If you are not sure, ask the clerk at the store or your vet.

As your puppies grow and their adult teeth start coming in, they will become big chewers. Rawhide bones are great for this time in a puppies’ life. Changing out the toys as they start to get torn up is safe and will eliminate the risk of choking for your puppy.
