The art of persuasion is a good skill to develop when dog training. Your voice is the most important aspect of this skill. It’s important to use your dog’s name before each command, and to use a persuasive tone of voice. Keep your tone of voice low and pleasant, but also firm.

Talk constantly to your dog when dog training. When training your dog to retrieve, you’ll need to persuade him to take an item from you. Great dog training aids for this are very light dumbbells. As soon as your dog starts to take the dumbbell, immediately praise him with a happy and excited voice. And don’t forget to pet him as well.

Don’t ever use an angry tone of voice when dog training. Getting angry with your dog will defeat the purpose of getting your dog to comply with your wishes. It will cause your dog to become anxious and possibly confused.

Always remember that your dog is trying to please you. This is the case even when he is not following your commands. Your dog may not understand what you want of him. He is not being deliberately disobedient.

As soon as your dog understands what you want him to do, he will take great delight in, e.g. taking the dumbbell from you. In fact, you’ll probably find that your dog will be happy to retrieve the dumbbell from you again and again.

If your dog does not understand that you want him to take the dumbbell (or whichever other dog training aids you’re using), it may be necessary to gently place the dumbbell in his mouth and then gently hold his jaws closed by placing both your hands around his muzzle. Be careful not to bang your dog’s teeth on the dumbbell.

Dog training sessions are a great opportunity for you to spend some quality time with yoru dog. Yes, dog training takes time and effort. It sometimes takes considerable patience. But always bear in mind that dog training should be a fun time for your and your dog.

Once you have placed the dumbbell in your dog’s mouth several times, encourage your dog to take the dumbbell from your hand himself.

Once your dog is taking the dumbbell from your hand, encourage him to pick it up off the ground just in front of him. Then move the dumbbell gradually further and further away from him, and give him the command of “Fetch”.

One of the most stressful decisions to make after bringing a puppy home is choosing a dog obedience school. Good training early can make the difference between a happy, healthy relationship with your dog and a lifelong struggle with behavioral issues. When choosing a school, be sure to pick one that is in line with your own natural style of training, as much of the instruction is geared toward humans as well as their dogs. The first few weeks with a new dog are crucial to the bonding process, and a good dog obedience school will lay a foundation you will build upon for years to come.

You should begin your hunt for the right school by speaking to fellow dog owners and veterinarians. The local dog park is a great place to solicit recommendations regarding schools and trainers. Your veterinarian’s office or the local clinic is another great source of information. Your vet’s office may have an official recommendation, but you should also ask the staff for their personal experiences with trainers in the area. In cities or towns with a large population of dog owners, online discussion boards may be the best way of reaching people.

After you have narrowed down the possibilities to a few schools, schedule visits. Most will allow prospective clients to come in and speak to the trainers. Use this time to get a sense of their training methods and whether or not you would feel comfortable continuing this style of training at home. Talk to them about their average class size and take a walk through the grounds. You and your dog will be spending hours there, so it is important that you feel comfortable.

Dogs of different breeds and ages respond differently to training. Most puppies will thrive in a group setting, and enrolling them in a class with peers can help in the socialization process. Trainers are available who will work with dogs individually, and this type of class may be necessary for older dogs, those with a history of behavioral problems, or certain breed that are typically not as responsive to training as others.

Cost may also be a factor in deciding which type of class is feasible for your dog. The average dog obedience school cost differs greatly based on the area in which you live. A series of group lessons can cost anywhere from $40-$200 depending on your area and the reputation of the trainer. Individual hour-long classes typically begin at $25 with prices extending past the $100 mark. Training is important, and if the cost of dog obedience school in your area is prohibitive, you should speak to local non-profit animal welfare agencies and inquire about taking classes for a reduced rate.

After you have selected a school and are preparing for your first class, an owner should know what to expect. The typical curriculum at a good dog obedience school will teach housebreaking for young puppies, and basic commands like “Sit” and “Stay.” Few teach tricks, especially those geared toward younger dogs, but they will help teach you the communication skills to continue training at home. Dog obedience school can be the first step to establishing trust between dogs and people, which is so important in the end.

There are many types of techniques when teaching your dog obedience training. Many people will tell you different things but all dogs will react differently to different commands.

by Martin Davis

There are many types of techniques when teaching your dog obedience training. Many people will tell you different things but all dogs will react differently to different commands.

Getting your dog to learn new things can be challenging, there are lots of things to take into consideration. As we go on you will start to understand how to get your dog to be obedient.

1. Respect and loyalty is import between you and your dog, the relationship has to be built up around mutual respect. However do not let your dog take control, remember you are in charge!

2. Confidence is key to the success of training your dog to be obedient, know your abilities and stay in control!

3. When teaching your dog new techniques make sure that the dog is happy and is enjoying the learning process. Make teaching enjoyable and your dog will learn new commands much faster.

4. Work with the dogs natural instincts, this will make obedience training a lot easier and also you will again your dogs respect quicker.

Below you will see some of the main rules for getting your dog to obey and understand your commands within the quickest time period.

Rule 1. Reward your dog if they succeed in a task or command that you have set. At first they might take a while to learn as their attention span is not as good a humans.

Rule 2. As time goes on, your dog will start to pick up your commands and have a greater attention span. This takes time so repeat everything again and again.

Rule 3. Make sure you provide feedback whatever the outcome when teaching your dog new commands, this will let the dog no whats acceptable and what is not.

Rule 4. Be realistic when teaching new obedience skills not all dogs are the same, some are going to take longer to pick up the commands. What you should never do is punish your dog if they are wrong in the initial stages.

Rule 5. Teaching your dog new commands if meant to be fun so keep it like that. If the dog seems to become bored they will start to lose attention.

Rule 6. Start off slow when teaching you dog new commands, because this is all new to them it will take time. Teach your dog new trick and techniques one at a time, this will save confusion and able the dog to learn faster.

Rule 7. Do not just train your dog at training sessions its a good idea to teach them in their everyday tasks. One example of this would be to give them their food on command, hold back and make them sit before they eat.

Rule 8. If your dog is ever in the wrong make sure you grab their attention to make them realise that they have done wrong. If you do not and leave it, they will start to become confused and wont know whats right or wrong.

Rule 9. Always treat your dog with a reward every time they get a command correct, this will please the dog and let them know that they have done the right thing, making them aware for the next time.

Rule 10. If you do find it difficult and challenging teaching you dog obedience lessons, then there is plenty of classes all over the UK.

Male Brazilian mastiffs come in at well over 100 pounds and will stand upwards of thirty inches at the shoulder when they are full grown. Females are similarly large, though they tend to average around 90 pounds and are a few inches shorter as well. Both males and females will have short, soft fur, an extremely thick neck and resemble a bloodhound in the face. You might find this breed sporting coats of brindle, black, yellow and reddish tan, making it a very handsome dog.

The Brazilian mastiff was bred to run fast and to have a bone structure that could support an attack if need be. Their courage is known to be intense, and they are also known to be an alert dog. While they can be quite savage and hostile to strangers, they are considered to be very loving with children.

There are several qualities that set the Brazilian mastiff apart from other breeds. They do have the hunting instinct of the bloodhound in combination with the guarding instinct of the mastiff. They have been used in the past to herd and guard cattle, and in many ways they are an excellent, well-rounded working dog. Not only can they follow a trail, they can catch it and hold it when they find it. In times past, they were even trusted to keep wild jaguars away from the herd.

One unpleasant job that they held in the past had to do with slave hunting, and the world Fila means to hold in Portuguese. In addition to their tracking and their impressive strength, Brazilian mastiffs are also capable of quick bursts of speed.

Remember that when you are dealing with this dog that it is never so keen on strangers. They are suspicious of people that they do not know, and though this might be a good thing if they are guard dogs, it might be as good if you have visitors. In many cases, they will undergo character testing to see whether they can be trusted to only attack when they are instructed to. It is important to keep this mind when you are thinking about purchasing a Brazilian mastiff. During dog shows, they maintain this aloof and wary quality and judges are often instructed not to touch the dog.

Despite the fact the breed is fairly hostile to strangers, also keep in mind that the Brazilian mastiff is quite warm and loving towards his own family. The breed, when well trained, shows an impressive loyalty to the home and the master of the house. Do keep in mind that they can be quite fierce strangers.

If you are thinking about adopting a Brazilian mastiff puppy, look for a good breeder. Consider going to the shows and going to the homes of private breeders. Do not stop at looking at just one breeder. Ask every question that you think of and see whether the breeder is someone who really feels for their dogs. Remember that they should be able to answer any questions that you throw out at them. Remember that you can always check out pictures of the breed online as well.

The Brazilian mastiff is quite adorable, with its blocky shape, its droopy long ears and its soft floppy lips. Always be careful when approaching an animal that you do not know well, and remember that the breed’s reputation as a guard animal is well earned. Despite this, you’ll soon see that with the right training, he can be amazingly sweet with the family in his care.

American pit bull terrier with a huge Neapolitan Mastiff female. The breeder who started this evolution of mastiffs is John Swinford and then another one also assisted in getting this breed going, and his name is Joe Lucero.Of course, there are several different varieties in the breed, such as cross breeding an English mastiff with the American pit bull. The closer to the original initial breeds are the most stable. This particular breed is well known for its muscular and athletic look. Naturally, he inherits that from his pit bull bloodline. There is also a variety of color patterns that you may notice within this brilliant breed. Some of the colors may consist of tawny, blue, black and red. However, for the most part this dog is black brindle.

Swinfords efforts were soon followed by breeder Joe Lucero and the breed has been gaining in popularity ever since. Other than the pit bull/Neapolitan mastiff mix, there are also Bandogges which are pit bull/English mastiff crosses. As with any other crossbred dog, the animals whose parents are genuine purebreds of their respective breeds are the healthiest, most attractive and have the best temperaments. Of course, the Bandogge Mastiff is definitely a handsome dog itself. These dogs are very well muscled, something they get from the pit bull side of the family. Like pit bulls, brindled coats are the general rule with black being the most common. However, you’ll also see tawny, red and even blue show up in their coats.

With their quiet nature, they also tend to have separation anxiety. They get lonely quickly and do not like for their owners to be out of their sight. Despite the lack of barking at intruders as they come about, these gentle giants will howl when their owners are absent. Just like most dogs, if they are raised from a puppy around other animals, even kittens, they can get along with them just fine, despite their large build.

Being the large dog that they are, they are also very active and love to exercise. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. They definitely will need to go on a regular walk, especially if they are confined to a house all day long while you are at work. It doesn’t take too long to get attached to these ‘Silent Peacekeepers’. They attach quickly to their owners and family and can become quite aggressive when provoked. They are very good with children. They stand to be confident. They are an extremely obedient breed.

Since these are large dogs, they do need their exercise and they love to walk, run and play. You’ll definitely have to give them a couple of daily walks and some outdoor playtime whenever you have the opportunity. These gentle dogs bond quickly with their new families and you’ll find it works both ways. They are intensely loyal and are especially good with children; their calm nature combined with their energy makes them ideal companions for kids. The short coats of American Bandogge Mastiffs are easy to groom and keep up since they’re easy to brush. Other than a slight tendency towards dry skin, these dogs are a pet owners dream.

Gentle, playful, intelligent and loyal; a true member of the family who has the physicality to protect your family and your home, but so loving that they’ll cry when you’re away; a great pet for kids which they’ll watch over as if they were their own pups. The American Bandogge Mastiff is all of these things and more. They’re a new breed but one which is certain to win you over. If you’re looking for a bigger dog that has a lot of love to give, then meet the Bandogge; mans new best friend!

Sure, we all love our dogs. The indoor poop and the pee spots are unfortunate incidents that happen to come with the package. Wouldn’t it be great though to not have to deal with cleaning up his mess anymore? With your patience and these tips on potty training dogs, it can be done.

Not a lot of people jump for joy at the mention of house training dogs. As a result, some people who adopt older dogs will be surprised to find them still untrained in ‘doing their business’ outside. While it may be easier to teach puppies to eliminate properly; adult dogs can still be taught correct toilet behavior anytime.

It will be helpful to know that it is easier to train older canines to do than to don’t. What this means is that if he is not taught how to go out to eliminate; you will find it almost impossible to undo this learned behavior. You will need to teach him a new habit. In this scenario, it is going outdoors to do his business.

Find a suitable spot outside your house to use for his toilet needs. Bring him out for a walk fifteen minutes after he finishes eating. Walk around the designated spot saying ‘go potty’ or ‘get pooping’ whatever word or phrase you want him to associate with the activity. Repeat it until he finally does and praise him profusely right after. This will let him know that this particular code word is a signal to eliminate. Do this for a few weeks using the same pattern you have started out with. In house training dogs, patience and consistency are fundamental.

When accidents do happen in the midst of your training plan, don’t throw in the towel just yet. Potty training sometimes takes a while. If you see the poop but not the dog, do not look for the culprit and start yelling. He will not understand why you are getting mad. If you catch him in the middle of the crime, startle him and bring him quickly outside to finish. Reward him with a treat and praises right after. Be extra attentive to your pet post meal to avoid future accidents.

In case it happens, clean the accident immediately as thoroughly as possible. Use a solution that combats odor to get rid of any residual smell it might leave behind or else the dog will revisit his spot and use it to eliminate again. Remember in potty training dogs, they do not like sharing their sleeping area and their toilet area; so keep their cage or crate as small as possible without it being too cramped for them.

Do not bring food and water to your pet two hours before sleeping or else you might find yourself sleepily leading him out at night for toilet breaks. Take him out to walk early morning or right after he finishes nap time. When you have successfully accomplished training him to go potty outdoors, ensure that going outside is accessible and convenient for him. An open back door will encourage him to continue his newly found talent in discharging outside.

Potty training dogs is a priority for the responsible pet owner. It serves as good mental exercise for your dog and your home will be thankful to you for it.

Are you loving your dog only until he plants another bomb in your immaculate living room carpet? It seems that your home can benefit greatly from some potty training dogs tips. Here are some simple techniques that will keep you and your pet’s love fest undisturbed in a few short weeks.

Hearing the obligatory chores in house training dogs is enough to make the best of us cringe. Some don’t even bother to make an effort. As a result, many dogs have never learned the basics on toilet training. It may be easier to teach puppies good habits, but adult dogs can still learn to do their business outside properly.

If you plan to teach your dog to not do something anymore, good luck. You won’t encounter much success. Instead, you should unseat the wrong behavior in his daily activities by substituting it with a new pattern. In this case, its learning to go outside for eliminating.

Look for a spot outdoors specifically to use for his toilet needs. The dog will feel like eliminating ten to fifteen minutes after eating. Take him out to the designated area around that time. As you walk to his spot, keep repeating a phrase he will associate with this activity like, ‘go potty’. When he finally does, lavish him with praise so he will understand that what he just did was good. Keep doing this process for several weeks, using the same spot each time. You need to be consistent in house training dogs.

When it happens, immediately clean up the accidents as thoroughly as possible. A deodorizing solution should be applied to remove any residual smell the poop might leave behind. Dogs will sniff out the area and use it again for the same purposes. Keep their cages as small as comfortably possible to aid in potty training dogs. Animals do not relish sleeping in the toilet area so they will restrain eliminating until you can get them outside.

Do not feed and water your dog less than two hours before sleeping time to ensure that there will be no accidents that will surprise you in the light of day. Bring him out to do his business first thing in the morning and after he wakes up from naps. When you have successfully potty trained your pet, make going outside as easy and convenient as possible for him. Place the cage near an open back door or give your doors a swinging dog flap for his easy access.

Potty training dogs is an important chore for responsible pet owners. Not only does it discipline and mentally stimulate your dog to behave correctly, you home will be all the cleaner and nicer because of it.

It’s hard to resist that adorable face staring you from the kennel at a breeder’s house ” until that same cute pup makes his first mess on your carpet! Puppy house training is usually the first step in establishing a proper relationship with your new dog, but it can also be a source of frustration to many dog owners.

On a lighter note, there are a lot of accurate and tried tips that will help you train your dog to do his business at the right place and spot swiftly and without any frustrations. Here you will be able to get some tips for puppy house training that will make the initial few weeks with your fresh pup easier to handle.

Using Crates

Using a crate in puppy house training is one of the popular tools for a lot of good reasons. A dog will find it hard and will normally refuse to use the area where they sleep as their bathroom and keeping your dog in a crate for a short amount of time will train him to hold his urges until he is taken out of his confinement. Take your dog outdoors to do his business the moment you remove him from his crate. As soon as your he potties outdoors, give him the positive reinforcement as this will help motivate him to use the yard the next time he wants to do number one or two.

A crate being utilized in puppy house training will also provide a comfortable and safe place for your pet to sleep in when you are too busy to keep an eye on him. This is mostly useful when you are away from home or when you are sleeping or resting.

Puppies that are left to their own devices can often become destructive, so a crate offers an environment where your dog cannot get into trouble or become injured when you are not watching him. Make sure that the initial time spent in the crate is short, and gradually extend the time as your dog gets more comfortable with his surroundings. No dog should be left in a crate for longer than six to eight hours at a stretch.

Cleaning the Messes

When your puppy does have an accident in the house, it is best to ignore the mess rather than put your pup’s nose in it or scold him. Take your puppy outside to show him the proper place to potty and then clean up the mess while your dog is not around to watch you.

Most importantly, eliminate the smell completely while puppy house training. If you dont, tendency is the dog will go back to the scent and potty again at that same spot. You will be able to find good commercial cleaners in stores today which can efficiently clean up such messes.

Puppy house training is the initial stage in raising a dog that will be of happiness for your family. This type of training will require a lot of patience and time, but it will be worth it. With the help of the crate and your consistency, your dog will be potty trained in no time.

Many individuals are using online dog training for their animal companion because they are looking for pets that can be easily trained at a minimal cost. There are dozens of breeds that can be trained using online dog training, with some specific techniques found to work well with specific breeds of dogs.

Although some dogs are used for security because of their defensive and aggressive nature, many dogs are extremely gentle in personality and are genuinely friendly. Different breeds of dogs have different health, food, and exercise requirements than other animals and differ in behavior and personality as well, so the online dog training will need to take all of this into account.

Training Methods

Make sure that before you start dog training, the method that you are thinking of having is going to be right for your home and your pet. Annually, thousands of dogs are being taken to local dog pounds because of its owner underestimating themselves to train their dogs.

Online dog training will be cheaper to learn other methods and they will be harder to perfect and can be a cause in harming the dogs if and when the methods in training are not used accurately. Some dogs will learn training faster than other breeds because some dogs mature later than other dogs.

Healthcare

In using online dog training, it is essential that your dogs are examined by a veterinarian prior to training so health problems will be discovered right away. Also do the same for your pets when the training has begun to ensure that training is not at all harming your dog.

Health problems can be passed down from generation to generation, especially if the dog is a purebred breed, so to prevent disorders from appearing in your pet and causing significant health problems, veterinarian visits must be frequent and the dog must get regular exercise in addition to the online dog training to maintain their weight and keep them healthy.

Needs in Training

Online dog training which also has obedience training requires dogs to be trained at an early age so they are pleasant to have in a household situation. It is ensured in training that your dog does not hurt himself or damage anything inside your home due to unawareness. A lot of dogs usually like to jump on their owners and would usually get underfoot without the knowledge of their owner which can cause an injury if they ever trip on the dog.

Training your pet early will also educate your dog good manners and will allow them to be indoor animals will be safe to have them around the rest of the family. Accurate training can also restrain the destructive tendencies of an unhappy dog. Even if online dog training requires the usage of different styles to teach a dog a certain lesson, it would still help in turning your dog into a lovable pet to you and your family.

by Andyl Hannerl

Bringing home a puppy is something that you will think of as an adventure but what you really need to realize is that it takes a lot of responsibility to take care of a puppy and to provide it with proper training. When you think you should be enjoying your puppy on day one, youre wrong ” training should already start the moment you take him home. Playing with your puppy, just remember that everything that you do with your puppy will instill behavior that will go on until your puppy becomes an adult.

The puppy training should be consistent throughout its life so that the behaviors that are allowed with the owner are also allowed with people that enter the home. If the behavior would be an embarrassment or could cause harm or annoyance to the person entering the home the owner must not allow it with himself, otherwise the dog will be confused as to what behavior is appropriate to do with people.

Biting

One common issue that has to be stopped through training is biting. Puppies are likely to bite as they are exploring their world, and unfortunately, people sometimes get the brunt of that attention.

When this happens, make sure that you do not hit or slap your dog when training it to stop biting as the puppy might think that the owner is actually playing with it, playing rough like dogs will make them do it with each other.

One way to train the puppy to stop biting is to refuse to play aggressive games with it such as tug of war, chase or wrestling. Although these activities are fun for dog and owner, they encourage aggressive behavior which is not acceptable for the dog to exhibit with all humans that come into the home.

One of the greatest ways of training a puppy not to bite is by letting out a sharp Ouch whenever the puppy tries to nibble or bite and then removing eye contact and turning away from the pup. This is the same technique that dogs use with each other ” letting the other dog know and be aware that what it did hurt and will not continue to play that way.

This is one method that uses negative reinforcement in training the puppy so that he would know that when he bites, it will not be given the attention that its asking for. When the puppy calms down and does not bite, this is the time that the owner should praise him and give him the attention so that the appropriate behavior is reinforced.

If the puppy bites down on the hand, the owner should place one finger inside the mouth under the puppy’s tongue and hold onto the bottom of the jaw with the thumb for about ten seconds. The pressure should only be firm enough that the puppy cannot get away for that amount of time. The puppy will not be able to bite down and it will provide the negative reinforcement that the behavior is not acceptable to use.
