The Spirited Hunter, The English Springer Spaniel

Spaniel dog breeds came into existence as early as 15th century and historians claimed that spaniel dogs appeared on the paintings that were made during this time. These breeds were originally for the purpose of having a hunting companion. Before the guns were introduced, this dog used to flush out or spring the game bird into the air; hence the name springer.

Everyone knows what a Cocker Spaniel looks like but be in the know that there is actually an English Cocker Spaniel and an American Cocker Spaniel. These two are completely separate breeds but with seemingly similar uses. Both are most often used as gundogs or as conformation show contenders.
